Top Marketer is a talent placement agency with a network of digital marketing industry professionals — from CMOs and marketing leadership to executors such as SEO auditors, designers, and web developers. They needed a visual identity and also a website for recruiting talent into the network and also placing talent based on sales inquiries.

Brand Identity

Fonts
I wanted to choose a modern, sans-serif font that is light and versatile. Weighing in at only 54kb, Fira Sans was my font of choice. For the website, I only needed a couple of weights: light, normal, and semibold. That keeps the number of styles running around down to a minimum. Creativity likes to have constraint. 😉

Buttons
For the website, the primary call to action is for prospective clients to hire talent from the Top Marketer network. The secondary call to action is for marketing professionals who want to join the network. My client had a strong preference for large, bubbly buttons. I went with rounded, primary color buttons and ghost buttons for the secondary calls to action.

Visual Design

Hero modules
Each subpage of the site has a micro hero that features a headline, subcopy, calls to action, and vector artwork that supports the copy.

Content Modules
Below are some of the other modules I designed for the website. In several cases I actually designed within the browser itself rather than inside a design tool such as Figma or Sketch.

Functionality

The website primarily serves as a marketing brochure for Top Marketer's network of professionals. However, some light functionality was needed in order for prospective clients and talent to submit an inquiry.

Hire Talent form
This three step form allows prospects to specify the type of marketing talent they are seeking.

Apply to Freelance form
This form allows marketing professionals to apply directly to join the Top Marketer network.

Content Management

I always like to give my clients the keys to drive. In this case, I coded the site using Wordpress and provided custom field functionality for managing content within the modules I designed. Content managers can easily log in to the CMS and drive all content changes.

Client logos management
For managing content within this and many other modules, I utilized the Repeater feature from Advanced Custom Fields.

Additional custom fields
I essentially created custom fields for just about everything on the site.
